Norway on Tuesday awarded stakes in 53 offshore oil and gas exploration licences to 20 companies in its annual licensing round, and announced plans for increased drilling in its offshore Arctic region, the energy minister said.
The annual award fell from 62 licences awarded one year ago while the number of oil and gas firms receiving permits declined from 24.
"If we are to uphold a stable production in the years to come, we must explore more and invest more," Energy Minister Terje Aasland told a conference.

Greek battery producer Sunlight Group has decided to acquire a 51% stake in Lehmann Marine, a Germany-based lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery systems specialist.

The year behind us was marked by numerous advancements in developing alternative fuel solutions and technologies on the maritime decarbonization quest. The following article brings you an overview of ten milestones that painted the industry landscape in 2024.
In early 2024, German engine maker MAN Energy Solutions (MAN ES) and its licensee Mitsui E&S completed the hydrogen combustion operation of a large marine 2-stroke test engine with a bore size of 50 cm on the premises of Mitsui E&S Tamano factory in Japan.
The partners reported that stable operation was achieved at various loads and operating conditions, including successful hydrogen
