Mitsui E&S used a MAN B&W 2-stroke gas injection engine to achieve the first demonstration of hydrogen combustion (Mitsui E&S)

Japan’s Mitsui E&S is reporting that it successfully achieved hydrogen combustion of a large marine two-stroke engine making a key milestone in the development of hydrogen as an alternative fuel. Previously the tests have focused on hydrogen derivates such as ammonia, with the company which worked in conjunction with MAN Energy Solutions reporting that this provides critical information toward moving directly to hydrogen as a fuel.

 Norway looks to be at the forefront in the development of new maritime technologies both to advance decarbonization and to increase the operating safety and efficiency of vessels. Designs have been completed and an order was placed for four fully battery-powered RoRo ferries that will also be capable of fully autonomous operations as part of a program sponsored by the Norwegian Public Road Administration.

La Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras (APBA) ha iniciado un proceso de licitación para transformar la conexión marítima entre Tarifa y Tánger en la primera línea marítima verde. Publicado en el Boletín Oficial del Estado, este concurso busca operadores para los dos atraques en el Puerto de Tarifa, con un enfoque en la sostenibilidad y la eficiencia energética.
