China has maintained its leadership in the global race for new offshore wind turbine installations despite an expected decline in annually added capacity, according to the latest numbers from the World Forum Offshore Wind (WFO).

The WFO's annual report shows that nearly seven gigawatts of offshore wind capacity was added in China in 2022, a substantial drop compared to 12.7 GW of new capacity that was added to the national grid in 2021.

The plunge was attributed to the expiration of a favorable Chinese feed-in tariff, which

South Africa is one of the largest countries in Africa, the 25th biggest in the world, and currently ranked 31st among major economies and 99th in the list of the richest countries in the world..

South Africa came out of a very long and hard struggle against apartheid (an institutionalized system of racial segregation) finally becoming a democracy in 1994..

Fast forward to 2023, South Africa is facing another major struggle, this time, economic in nature, caused by “load-shedding” which has continued for the past 14 years with no real solution in sight..

Load shedding is the intentional and controlled reduction of electric power supplied to certain areas in order to prevent a total blackout or power failure..

It is a common practice

Bunkering has been suspended in Gibraltar Strait ports, and suppliers in Malta are not taking on any new offers because of a damaged jetty, Engine informs

According to data by Seatrans Shipping agency,  jetty in Valletta has been damaged by rough weather and is expected to limit bunkering in Valletta and in bunker locations off Malta for a week,.

Suppliers in Malta are neither offering or indicating prices for stems at the moment, as they are prevented from reloading fuel from the damaged jetty and oil terminal, a source says. Shipowners are forced to consider moving their ships to other ports and bunker locations to receive bunkers.
