Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International’s first LNG-powered cruise ship built at Meyer Turku shipyard, has completed the first bunkering of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The 365-meter-long and almost 50-meter-wide vessel, dubbed the world’s largest cruise ship, has received LNG from Gasum’s LNG bunker vessel Kairos. Kairos reurned to Gasum’s fleet in August ths year, after being subleased outside the company since October 2022.

China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO Shipping), State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), and China Certification & Inspection Group (CCIC) have jointly signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation on the Construction of a Green Methanol Industrial Chain” online.

This milestone signifies the start of the actual construction phase for this comprehensive industrial chain cooperation project, which encompasses the production, transportation, refuelling, and certification of green methanol for ships.

The adoption of green methanol fuel is a crucial step for the shipping industry to achieve environmental sustainability. COSCO SHIPPING has recently placed an order for 12 methanol dual-fuel container ships, each with a capacity of 24,000 TEU.

La sociedad de clasificación DNV ha concedido una Aprobación en Principio (AiP) a HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) y sus filiales HD Hyundai Heavy Industry (HD HHI) y Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) para su nuevo sistema de hidrógeno.

Como se explicó, HD KSOE tiene como objetivo completar el desarrollo de tecnología de transporte de hidrógeno que permita el transporte y almacenamiento de hidrógeno de gran capacidad para alrededor de 2030.

El hidrógeno producido de forma sostenible con cero y bajas emisiones de carbono ha sido identificado como una parte clave de la transición energética mundial.
