Crowley Maritime Corporation announced yesterday (Friday) that it has entered a partnership with Future Care to provide active seafarers with healthcare while at sea.
Future Care’s ‘Caring for the Crew’ programme provides 24-hour medical advice to crew aboard Crowley’s worldwide fleet of vessels and is in addition to the care that crew members receive from trained medical care providers onboard all of Crowley’s vessels.

Island Navigator is an offshore service vessel owned by Norwegian offshore service provider Island Offshore. The vessel, which is being designed for worldwide operations, will be built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) at its Kobe shipyard in Japan. KHI was awarded the contract to build the ship in January 2014 and is expected to hand her over to the owner in the first quarter of 2017. Ship and offshore classification society DNV GL has launched a new version of its Navigator Port 2 clearance software, with new usability features, intuitive structure and improved interface.
Formerly known as DNV Navigator, the newer maritime software was released after the merger of DNV and GL last year.
Navigator Port 2 features an improved interface, is more intuitive and efficient, with a work-orientated process for easy understanding and navigating within.
The new enhancements not only increase usability and save time in the actual port clearance process, but also require fewer resources for training new users and implementation.

The UK Government has launched its first national strategy for maritime security (NSMS), in a demonstration of the country's approach to delivering maritime security at home and abroad.
The strategy sets out how the UK will organise and deploy its national capabilities to detect, assess and manage maritime security challenges. It also aims to connect the government with industry and international partners, to build an effective approach to maritime security risks faced by seafarers.
