INTERCARGO published its Bulk Carrier Casualty Report, reporting that 26 bulk carriers of over 10,000 dwt were declared as total losses for the years 2013-2022.

According to INTERCARGO, bulkers losses took place as follows:

  • 80,000+ dwt: Six ships were lost, accounting for 23.1% of the total 26 casualties reported. There casualties cost 22 lives, or 21.2% of the total 104 lives lost during the period. In 2020 the losses of one Capesize and one VLOC vessel (Wakashio and Stellar Banner) focused attention on large bulk carrier safety.
  • The lowest number of casualties occurred in the 60,000-79,999 dwt range, representing 7.7%

El fuego podría haberse iniciado en uno de los vehículos eléctricos y se propagó rápidamente al resto, cree la Guardia Costera de Países Bajos.

Al menos una persona ha muerto y otras 16 han resultado heridas en un incendio declarado en un buque de carga en el Mar del Norte, a unos treinta kilómetros de la costa de Países Bajos, que viajaba desde Alemania con destino a Egipto con unos 3.000 automóviles a bordo.

Las autoridades nigerianas incautaron y destruyeron un pequeño petrolero supuestamente por robar petróleo de un pozo en alta mar en el estado de Ondo. 

El petrolero, identificado como Tura II (ex nombre Ali Riza Bey, IMO 6620462), fue capturado por el contratista Tantita Security Services en una ubicación en alta mar, según NNPC. Después de que el barco fuera incautado y la tripulación detenida, el barco fue destruido por un helicóptero militar nigeriano, sin procedimientos judiciales. Las imágenes de video fueron capturadas por personal de seguridad .
