Un tribunal británico dictaminó el viernes que España no puede ejecutar ninguna sentencia española que obligó a la compañía aseguradora del petrolero hundido “ Prestige ” a pagar 855 millones de euros debido al desastre medioambiental que provocó su hundimiento en 2002.

El juez Christopher Butcher, de la Sala de lo Mercantil del Tribunal Superior de Justicia, estima el recurso de la London Steamship Owners' Mutual Insurance Society contra la ejecución de una sentencia de la Audiencia Regional de La Coruña, que declaraba a la aseguradora obligada a indemnizar al Estado por el vertido tóxico ocurrido en las costas de Galicia en noviembre de 2002.

Un marinero falleció anoche tras ser aplastado por una plancha en el interior del Volcán de Tamadaba en el interior del barco por una plancha durante la maniobra de descarga de mercancías.
