El Astrid Maersk es un buque portacontenedores de última generación con la superestructura a proa y propulsado por motores duales a metanol, en su primera travesía hacia Europa. Procedente de Puerto Said (Egipto), el buque fue desviado por el cabo de Buena Esperanza debido a los problemas actuales en el tráfico marítimo en el Mar Rojo. Durante su escala en APM Terminals, el presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras, Gerardo Landaluce, ha entregado la metopa al capitán del buque, Danut Stefan. Por parte de APM Terminals Algeciras, ha entregado la metopa Sophia Linares, Operations Execution Manager, junto a Eduardo Sánchez, Labour Relations & Communication Manager, y Javier Jaén, Shift Manager.

Dual naming ceremony of Pacific International Lines' newest containerships Kota Eagle and Kota Emerald, October 15, 2024Pacific International Lines
Singapore-based shipping company Pacific International Lines (PIL) formally named its two newest dual-fuel container vessels in a ceremony at Jiangnan Shipyard in China on Tuesday, October 15.
The 335-metre, 14,000TEU Kota Eagle and Kota Emerald are the largest vessels in the PIL fleet as well as the first of the company's ships to fully run on LNG. Upon their deliveries, the vessels will be plying the route from the Far East to Latin America on PIL’s West Coast Central and South America Service 2 route.
PIL said the use of digitalisation on the vessels such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet
