El Cala Gran era un mercante de 665 TRB y 1.297 toneladas a máxima carga, botado en Gijón un 27 de noviembre de 1958 por los astilleros Juliana Constructora Gijonesa, con el número de construcción 124 y entregado en julio de 1961 con el nombre de Puerto de Gijón para la Naviera Vasco Gaditana S.A., señal de llamada E.D.G.I. y foliado en Cádiz con el número 250 de la lista 2ª, media 54.60 metros de eslora por 9 metros de manga y 5,35 metros de puntal; equipaba un Smit Bolnes SB-310 construido por la Empresa Nacional Elcano de

The Philippine Coast Guard responded to the scene of a collision between a product tanker and a dry bulk carrier in Manila Bay overnight. Both vessels sustained damage but remained seaworthy and are now being detained while an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances of the accident.

According to the reports from the PCG, the two vessels made contact approximately three nautical miles from Cavite City in Manila Bay at approximately 9:50 p.m. local time on Wednesday, April 7. Weather and sea conditions appeared to be calm at the time. The Coast Guard responded deploying personnel from the Coast Guard Station Manila,

Nike and other major U.S. importers just got another kick in the shins. The arrival of the Maersk Eureka at the Port of Long Beach, California, will be delayed by about three weeks because of a mechanical problem at sea.

The notice of the latest delay came from MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co., which told customers Thursday, “Maersk has informed us that the container ship Maersk Eureka, deployed on our Sequoia service, had to stop

 Executive Summary

On May 10, 2019, at 1516, the 754-foot-long, 122-foot-wide liquefied gas carrier Genesis River collided with a 297-foot-long tank barge being pushed ahead by the 69-foot-long towing vessel Voyager. As a result of the collision, two cargo tanks in the barge were breached, spilling petrochemical cargo into the waterway, and a second barge in the Voyager tow capsized.

The Genesis River had been outbound on the Houston Ship Channel when, a few minutes prior to the collision, it met the inbound 740-foot-long, 120-foot-wide liquefied gas carrier BW Oak in the intersection of the Houston Ship Channel and the Bayport Ship Channel, known as the Bayport Flare.
