Dozens of ships carrying LNG are circling off the coasts of Spain and other European countries, not able to secure slots to unload because plants that convert the fuel back to gas are full.

According to Reuters, there are more than 35 LNG-laden vessels drifting off Spain and around the Mediterranean, with at least eight vessels anchored off the Bay of Cadiz alone.

Now, the congestion of cargoes has raised concerns about Europe’s ability to process the LNG supplies needed to deal with the lack of Russian pipeline supply.

More specifically, Spain is offering just six slots at its regasification terminals for cargoes this week, which is less than a fifth of

After months of troop buildups, attempted blackmail by Russian President Vladimir Putin to get policy concessions, failed diplomacy, and Russian lies about their peaceful intentions, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began early Thursday morning. Russia has massed some 150,000 troops along Ukraine's borders, according to US estimates based on satellite imagery. Ukraine does not have the military might to stop the invasion.

Their are diverse ways this conflict could impact global supply chains.

Pune, Aug. 12, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Containers are used to transport objects from one place to another. Unlike conventional shipping, container shipping uses containers of various standard sizes—20 foot (6.09 m), 40 foot (12.18 m), 45 foot (13.7 m), 48 foot (14.6 m), and 53 foot (16.15 m)—to load, transport, and unload goods or objects. As a result, containers can be moved by trains, ships and trucks. Most commonly and important container sizes are 20-foot and 40-foot lengths. The 20-foot container is generally referred to as a Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) and the 40-foot container is known as the Forty-foot Equivalent Unit (FEU).
