La pandemia de COVID afectó a todo el mundo, incluida la industria marítima. Debido a las muchas dificultades que surgieron durante ese periodo de tiempo, muchos marinos decidieron cambiar sus trabajos en el mar por trabajos en tierra.

La industria marítima tiene dos caras: una es el mar y la otra en tierra. Hay una serie de partes interesadas (empresas, organizaciones, agencias) en la industria cuyos empleados tienen poca o ninguna experiencia en el mar. Estas organizaciones podrían beneficiarse de la experiencia que podría aportar un marino experto.

Por lo general, se infrautilizan la oportunidad de emplear a marinos experimentados en empresas terrestres. Además, debido a sus largos contratos, la gente de mar a veces no tiene tiempo para buscar y solicitar

Østensjø Rederi has signed a newbuild contract with the Spanish shipyard Astilleros Gondán for the construction of an offshore tug. The vessel, based on a Skipsteknisk design, is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2028.

The new tug will measure 50 metres in length and 17 metres in beam. It is designed with a bollard pull of 150 tonnes and features a DP-2 dynamic positioning system. The vessel will be equipped with a comprehensive winch package intended to support high operational flexibility for complex tasks.

Thirty-fourth regular session of the Assembly will approve 2026-2027 work programme and budget.

The IMO Assembly is open to all 176 Member States and three Associate Members. Observers from accredited organizations also attend.

 

The Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet for its 34th regular session from 24 November to 3 December 2025, to elect Members of the IMO Council and approve the Organization’s work programme and budget. 

The Assembly is the highest Governing Body of the IMO, consisting of all Member States. The Assembly session will be preceded by the 135th session of the IMO Council (19-21 November).
