El fabricante de motores británico Rolls-Royce vendió sus actividades en la marina civil al grupo noruego Kongsberg por unos 661 millones de dólares para concentrarse en los sectores de aeronáutica, defensa y producción de energía.

Electric road vehicles are slowly but surely making progress. According to figures published by the International Energy Agency worldwide sales were up by 40% in 2016. But an electric-powered ship – isn’t that technically impossible? A few years ago, we would have agreed, but advances in electric power storage and generation have made this emission-free dream come true – in Finland, for example. A 525-ton ferry with the appropriate name ELEKTRA (shown on the picture) is now transporting up to 375 passengers and 90 cars through the islets off the Finnish port of Turku. Shipbuilding Market:
New orders for cargo carriers plunge, while the demand for passenger ships and ONCCV
accounts for 70% of global investments during 1H 2016.
European shipyards secure new contracts for a total of 11.6 bn $, 61% of the global
market shares. South Korea (1.8 bn $), China (4.1 bn $) and Japan (1.1 bn $) together
don´t reach the value of European new orders.
In number of vessels, the global orderbook stands at 5642 vessels and 101M CGT. New
orders account for 420 ships in total (57 in Europe, 114 in China, 101 in Japan and just 37
in South Korea). In CGT terms, Europe stands almost at the level of China (2.2 and 2.4M

NAVANTIA.- Otra vez en la calle exigiendo faena para el astillero isleño

Trabajadotes de Navantia San Fernando han salido una vez más a la calle para que no pase desapercibida la situación que vive este astillero gaditano “en los últimos años, y agravada aún más a día de hoy”, sin proyecto alguno que ejecutar a corto plazo. Se remata un BAM ya botado mientras se espera, desde hace meses, que se concrete el polémico contrato de las corbetas para Arabia Saudí. Así, se anuncia que se mantendrán las movilizaciones hasta conseguir faena. El Gobierno isleño apoya y apoyará las mismas.
